Hairydog started delivering alcohol in the first round of lockdowns to hit Australia. Since launching they’ve increased in scale and asked Milkman to refresh their brand guidelines while helping lay the groundwork for future marketing campaigns, including a 15 and 30 second animated TVC I worked on.

After given an initial draft script based on a “Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory’-esque depiction of the Hairydog warehouse, I was given complete control of creating the animated TVCs, from creating the story and look, to the animation and editing.


Storyboards
With a tight budget and an even tighter deadline, I had to be smart about how to go about creating this story. I also needed to make sure the 30 second ad could be cut into a 15 second ad that still flowed and made sense.

Visual Development
The client had asked for a “clean” look, and after pitching three different art styles, they opted for this style that had simple black lines with flat colour and a screentone texture. I created a limited colour palette with Hairydog Purple and Hairydog Mint Green from their brand guidelines as well as two lighter shades of purple I chose and black and white.
